Northern Golden Retriever Association

History of the Club

The Northern Golden Retriever Association was formed in 1946 after a group of Golden fanciers felt that there was a place for a second breed club, (the GRC being the first). From the start, the Association prided itself on being a dual purpose club, with both the working and show side taking equal importance.

The Association holds two shows a year, the Open show in early April, and the Championship show with Obedience tests in October. The 2006 Championship show was the Association's 55th and was the Associations 60th. Anniversary.

The Association runs at least four Field Trials a year and four Working Tests and twelve Gundog Training sessions through the Pennine Training Area which is the working subsection. (Website: www.penninetrainingarea.co.uk.
