Golden Retriever Club of Scotland

History of the Club

The Golden Retriever Club of Scotland was founded in 1946, holding its first Championship show that year. Field Trials were also held and membership quickly reached 100. However problems arose and by the early 1950's membership had dropped to 40 and the Club no longer held a Championship show. In the mid 1960's interest revived and the first Championship show for 20 years was held in 1967.

Today, the club has over 1100 members, holds a Championship and Open shows, Field Trials and Working Tests. A Handbook is published every two years and two newsletters are sent to members each year. The Club has a major commitment to Rescue, and to all aspects of welfare.
