Yorkshire Golden Retriever Club

History of the Club

The inaugural meeting was held on 6th September 1986, organised by Mrs Lynn Anderson. The Kennel Club granted status, and we became known as the "Yorkshire Golden Retriever Club". The first Open show was held on 3rd January 1988. The first Championship Show was held in 1992.

The Club holds two shows a year, the Championship show in early April and the Open show in early October. The Club runs Working tests each year & also Gundog Training classes for beginners and advanced, Juniors are very welcome.

The objectives of the club are to benefit the welfare of Golden Retrievers and further educate members & the general public in the management, training, showing, working and all aspects of the Golden Retriever.
