Criteria for Breed Council Lists

A1 List Criteria Persons who have been approved by the Kennel Club to award Challenge Certificates in the Golden Retriever Breed and have satisfactorily completed their first appointment.
A2 List Criteria Persons who, if invited to judge by a Society, would in principle be approved by the Kennel Club to award CC's in a given breed for that occasion. A Council/Club must apply to the Kennel Club for approval to promote a judge from its A3 list to its A2 list.
A3 List Criteria

Breed Specialist

Persons who own/show Golden Retrievers Persons who have judged at Open Show level (or classes where Green Stars are on offer) a minimum of 100 classes, and 500 dogs of the breed over a period of 7 years and a wide geographical area. To have judged a breed Open Show. Save in exceptional circumstances to have owned or bred three Golden Retrievers eligible for entry into the KC Stud Book, before their first entry. Stewarded at 12 shows. Attended/passed mandatory KC seminars on Regulations & Procedures, Conformation & Movement, Hands-on Assessment,and a Breed Specific seminar.

All Rounder

Persons approved to award CC's in at least 1 other breed. Persons who have judged at Open Show level (or classes where Green Stars are on offer) a minimum of 100 classes, and 500 dogs of the breed over a period of 7 years and a wide geographical area. (If 7 years have been completed in one other breed, only 5 years will be required in this breed). Persons who have shown a genuine interest in the breed by either attending a Golden Retriever judging seminar, a breed championship show and a breed open show in a different geographical area.

B List Criteria

Breed Specialists and All Rounders

Persons to have owned and exhibited the breed for at least seven years. To have a minimum of 5 years judging. Have judged at least 30 classes of Golden Retrievers at Open Shows, Breed Club supported entry shows or Championship Shows without CC's. Have judged at least 250 dogs in breed classes. Attended at least one breed specific judging seminar and passed an assessment where applicable. Attended/passed mandatory KC seminars on Regulations & Procedures, Conformation & Movement, and Hands-on Assessment.
